fate

I think fate is what this book is most about.  it is about fate and how we can affect our fate.  Macbeth starts to go down hill the moment that the witches tell Macbeth his fate.  It sounds good so Macbeth tries to make it come true.  In doing so, he kills the king and his best friend.  He becomes a tyrant and a murderer.  When he consults the witches again, he is told he will not be killed until a forest moves to dunsinane hill.  Macbeth gets over confident and makes choices based off the prophesy, which an opposing army causes to come true.

In the play all the bad choices that Macbeth makes are made because of the prophesy which would have come true even without his intervention.  It is knowing his future that causes Macbeth to make bad choices.  In many stories people learn their fate and go about trying to change them or trying to achieve them.  Usually, this causes their fate to come true usually in a bad way.  If you must do bad things to achieve your fate, then just let it come in its own time.  This usually turns out better, because whatever told you probably did not tell you the whole story.

five seconds of history

Ouch!  pain flies through my foot.  I curs my luck as I scream of pain.  I can feel my self starting to tip towards earth.  I can already feel my self hitting the ground.  I suddenly become aware of the people calling my name.  I see a bug meandering along on the ground.  About half a foot to the right, I notice a strange looking flower that looks like it has purple polka dots.  I feel like I see everything in little glimpses instead of as one picture.

Why am I still falling, I think to my self.  I should have hit the ground after about a second.  Instead, it takes forever to reach the ground.  When I finally reach the ground, I feel the grass below me and think why it could not soften the landing more.  I lay there fore the second longest second of my life.  When I look up, I see the finish line ten feet in front of me.  I have broken my ankle ten feet from the end of the race.

statments

If something is destined to happen, it will happen without your interference.
If you are in a position of power, you are happy.

I neither agree or disagree with the first statement.  If something is destined to happen then it will happen weather you interfere or not.  If you interfere to make it happen then you were destined to interfere, and if not then you were destined not to interfere.  Destiny is what will happen regardless.  What happens next Is determined by weather you interfered or not.  In Macbeth, Macbeth interferes and becomes king and is then killed because of it.  In almost all stories regarding destiny of a sort, it is the trying to interfere with destiny that makes it come true.  I say just ignore it because you cant avoid it.

The second statement I strongly disagree with.  Power corrupts.  People who have power often want more power and are scared of the power being taken away from them.  If you have power you are only happy if every one likes you.  Macbeth kills Duncan because he wants to be king instead of him.

It has been far too long

It has been far too long, since I last saw
The glow of your eyes and the color of your hair.
It has been far too long, since I last herd
The sound of your voice or the song on your lips.

I wish to see you just once again
You read this somewhere far away
I hope you miss, and do not forget
Me missing you from far away.

It has been far too long, since I last saw
The glow of your eyes and the color of your hair.
It has been far too long, since I last herd
The sound of your voice or the song on your lips.

If you don’t return
I can only hope
That our paths will meet

Once again, somewhere down the road

poem annalization

I must belong somewhere
by Bright Eyes

In the song I must belong somewhere the speaker is a man who does not want to leave a place which he believes he belongs.  Someone him his life wants him to go with them.  He tries to tell the person that he belongs here by giving a lot of examples of things to let remain.

The poem shows a lot of anaphora with the word leave at the beginning of nearly every sentence.  There is alliteration in the beginning of the song.  The tone is rather sad and lonely, maybe a little regretfully because the guy wants to stay behind.

the fire

As I woke up, I could hear the alarm howling at me to get up.  I reached up and turned it off, but the alarm was still blazing.  I tried again, nothing.  Then I noticed that I was sweaty and smelled of smoke.  Smoke?  I threw off the blanket and looked around.  Everything looked normal but I could defiantly smell smoke.  My eyes burned and my head hurt as I tried to think of what to do.

I ran down stairs.  Still no sign of a fire but the smoke was just as thick, hanging over everything like a thick black cloud of doom.  Still with no sign of fire but the smoke I ran to make sure my parents were okay.  They had already left, without me!  I ran outside just as the first flames sprang up from the floor.  I tried to find my parents but couldn't.  Then I remembered that they were sleeping in the basement because of a broken window and it was too cold in their room.  I turned to run back inside as the air conditioner exploded and the whole house was suddenly covered in flames.

research essay post

I feel great about this rough draft.  I think it looks good and is in correct MLA format.  I am confident in my thesis and my supporting details.  I believe that the draft came together very well.

The body of the essay came easy because that is just taking what I found in my research and putting it into words.  The hard part was the introduction and conclusion.  I feel concerned that my introduction does not do as good a job introducing the topic as I would like.  I feel that everything else worked out great.

topic discussion and times

I’m researching ancient Greece and the rights and responsibilities of the people who lived there.  I decided to research ancient Greece because I like ancient Greece.  I like the architecture and find the time period very interesting.  I found that only the male citizens of Athens got to enjoy and participate in democracy.  Other social classes like women and slaves had to live with the decisions of the men.  I learned that women were mainly responsible for child birth and the up keeping of the home.  I thought it was interesting that skilled slaves could earn a salary which could be saved and used to buy their freedom.

My topic is the rights and responsibilities of the citizens of ancient Athens.  I wanted to know how social class affected a person’s rights and responsibilities.  I believe that there was little of a state government because it was formed by the voting of Athenian males.  Other social classes had little to no say in government and had to deal with the choices made by the free, native born, male citizens.  From my research I have learned that women were mainly responsible for child birth and the up keeping of the home, and skilled slaves could earn a salary which could be saved and used to buy their freedom.

student prompt

Deven: Write about one interpretation of evil and then write about how you see this interpretation.

The Socratic view believes that there is one evil which is ignorance.  I feel that this is only half correct.  I feel that this is only half correct in the sense that some people are just mean like Roger from Lord of the Flies.  Some people just enjoy pain and know exactly what it means and have a complete understanding of their actions and their effect.  The thing is that their actions are limited somewhat by their understanding.

I believe that the kind of evil this applies to is people like Hitler who ignorantly killed hundreds of Jews in concentration camps because he saw them as a flaw.  He ignorantly caused the death of many people because of his own disagreements with them.

My topic is on ancient Greece and the rights and responsibilities of the citizens of ancient Greece.  I am mainly focusing on Athens.  The responsibilities of the citizens who lived in Athens in their day to day life.  How their government affected their beliefs and their views.  How important voting was to the average citizen.

In my research to do list I need to do a scholarly search and a google advanced search.  I need to search the databases for a source.  I also need to find a primary source.
